Bibbidi, Bobbidi, Boo

Late last night, as I blocked my newly completed lace shawl, I had a little song running through my head, inspired by the magical way I was turning a gnarly mass of loopy wool into a delicate work of art. I know most of you either have children or were children, so you know this song. Sing with me.

Sala-gadoola-menchicka-boo-la
Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo

Put ’em together and what
have you got
Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo

Sala-gadoola-menchicka-boo-la
Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo
It’ll do magic believe it or not
Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo

Now sala-gadoola means
Menchicka booleroo
But the thing-a-ma-bob that
does the job
Is bibbidi-bobbidi-boo

Sala-gadoola-menchicka-boo-la
Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo
Put ’em together and what
have you got
Bibbidi-bobbidi
Bibbidi-bobbidi
Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo

I am totally infatuated with this thing.

I keep draping it over anything that can be draped over.

This is the most beautiful thing I have ever made with my hands.

It was the most challenging knitting project I have ever undertaken.

Now, what am I going to do with it?

  1. Absolutely breathtaking! You did an awesome job!

“Now, what am I going to do with it?”

This is exactly why I have never knit a shawl. I’m not a shawl kind of girl. I have such a hard time thinking of knitting such a work of art only to store it away because i just won’t wear it.

Knit lace? YES! Knit a lace shawl? I just can’t do it… though after seeing that, it is so appealing…

  2. Perfect song! I always feel like knitting is magic. And oh! The wonders of blocking, especially lace!

It’s so beautiful!! Wear it around the house. Throw it over an armchair. 🙂

  3. Wow, Shelly! This IS impressive! What a beautiful piece of work! I think you OUGHT to be feeling pretty good about it!!!

  4. You did it, you did it, you did it did it did it!! {singing and dancing}

Wear it whenever you feel a chill!! You will have it FOREVER and it is sure to be handy!
