When one casts on project after project with sweet abandon (as I have a tendency to do), one finds themselves in long periods of not getting anything done. But a deadline is a deadline and I hate to be late. So last night, I decided it was time to get this one done. I may have stayed up later than I should have. I may have watched too many episodes of Smallville. I may have to take a nap today.
But it is finished.
I have three things to say about this:
1. This was harder than I anticipated. There were no two blocks of the same shape and size, but I had planned for that by getting a springy yarn that I could stretch as needed. But, having never put together a blanket before, it was a new experience and a real challenge making it look right.
2. It is small. It measures 21″x 34″. I was going to put a big, fat border around it to make it bigger, or I even thought of knitting around each peice to make them all uniform. But, the Mama wanted it small. And the yarn really is stretchy. It will probably end up being perfect to wrap a tiny baby in.
3. Only one guest in twelve did not participate. There is a square from the Grandma, two great aunts, two aunts, the Mama, and lots of friends. It is such a treasure, I am honored to deliver it to her. I hope she likes it as much as I do!
