Victorian Lace for Baby

I made a secret project a couple of months ago, and now that the baby shower is passed, I can show you this adorable bonnet that I made for my niece (who is due in November).

I found the sweetest little bonnet pattern shop on Etsy called Beautiful Ewe Designs. The hardest part was choosing from all of the gorgeous patterns.

The yarn choice was easy. Handmaiden Casbah Sock Moondust is a luscious MCN that I have used in the past to make the most luxurious socks, and yet it is sturdy enough for a few runs through the washing machine as needed.

It’s gorgeous at any angle. I can’t wait to see it on a teeny tiny newborn head.

And then, because I had so much yarn leftover, I went ahead and made a little dress to go with it.

The pattern is Elsie Petal Dress by Kate Gondwana. I test knitted this pattern years ago when the Fraggle was just a little thing and was excited to knit it again after so many years. It’s a great little pattern with some customization options for skirt fullness and length. I went with a shorter length and a-line skirt to conserve yarn.

I am utterly charmed by the two tiny, vintage, grey buttons on the back.

A sweet little set for a sweet little niece.
