Spinning just got a whole lot more exciting!

My Ashford Elizabeth I came via UPS yesterday. She is 15 years old and has a couple of quirks, but I love her! She has such charming features – like the little cubby hole for the threading hook –

plus it is double drive and scotch tensioned. I learned how to spin with scotch tension, so I found it interesting to set up this wheel for double drive. I don’t know which I prefer, yet.

So, as much as I should be doing housework, laundry, and other responsible adult activities today, I hope to spend most of my time right here-

in front of my new wheel. It is heaven, I tell you.

Fiber in progress is Dear Husband Fine Merino Norway Girl seconds (got it for a deal because it has more brown in it than the dyer had inteneded.) Going to learn to chain ply with this one. Woohoo!Β

  1. Wow! I can’t wait to see what you make with it!

Also, by the by, I want to thank you for showing off your Sweet Tomato Heel awhile back. I finally got around to trying it and it’s by far my favorite heel. I never would have tried it if it weren’t for you! No one in my knit group had ever tried it and only one person had ever even heard of it. Thanks a lot!

  2. You know, I’ve had my wheel for a year and a half and I still haven’t named him. I’m positive that my wheel is a “he” because he’s a stubborn little puke sometimes and doesn’t do what I tell him to.

Perhaps Viktor. Yes, I think Viktor would be a good name for him.

Stubborn and sexy. That’s my wheel πŸ™‚

  3. Yay! Happy, happy spinning! I’m so excited that you got your wheel!

I love my Dervish, but.. I have to admit that I’ve been dreaming of the sort of wheel I’ll buy in another few years. I’d love one of those huge art yarn bobbin contraptions.
